  • A parent IGSN number registered for the Ice core point or location is required
  • For all ice core samples curated by NSF-ICF unique sibling IGSN will be derived.
  • Projects with samples not curated by NSF-ICF are encouraged to follow the same naming scheme.
    • The table below illustrates what will be generated for data that currently classified as section by NSF-ICF. Note that keyword tube is used interchangeably with a section by NSF-ICF for foil covered cardboard storage media.
Example that illustrates how sibling IGSN numbers will be derived from parent IGSN number for ice core section data fields. NOTE example data set is not accuare and used for demonstration purposes only.
